Six Vicksburg natives graduate from Holmes paramedic program

RIDGELAND, Miss. (VDN) — Six Vicksburg residents — Walter Beamon, Vincent McRaven, Marlin Nickson, Nicholas Stump, Jeff Riggs(EMT Advanced) and Daniel Weeks— graduated from Holmes Community College’s Paramedic School on Monday.

The ceremony took place at the McGowan Workforce Training Center, where a total of 17 students were recognized for completing the rigorous program. Stump was also named the EMS Student of the Year.

Holmes Community College celebrated the graduation of 17 Paramedic students during a ceremony Monday, Aug. 4, at 3 p.m. in the McGowan Workforce Training Center. Family, friends and faculty gathered to honor the graduates, who successfully completed the rigorous program designed to prepare them for state certification and careers in emergency response.

The 2025 graduates include Walter Beamon of Vicksburg, Michael Campbell of Pearl, Mark Greenwood of Vaughan, Peyton Grewe of Flora, Recardo Johnson of Brandon, Vincent McRaven of Vicksburg, Shanta McNair of Columbus, Marlin Nickson of Vicksburg, Jonathan Phillips of Mendenhall, Kimberly Phillips of Amory, Joseph South of Canton, Nicholas Stump of Vicksburg, Quinyia Taylor of Canton, Alysha Thrasher of Canton, Jessica Tucker of Meridian, Daniel Weeks of Utica and Jermaine Winston of Madison. Stump was named EMS Student of the Year.
