Support VNMP and watch a movie at The Strand
Join us at the Strand Theater for the screening of ‘Granite Rapids Moon’ and support Vicksburg National Military Park.
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Friends of Vicksburg National Military Park is excited to partner with the Strand Theater for a special screening of “Granite Rapids Moon” Saturday, July 11.
This unique event offers a great opportunity to enjoy an inspiring, family-friendly film while supporting the preservation and educational mission of Vicksburg National Military Park.
“Granite Rapids Moon” is the first narrative feature film to be shot primarily inside the Grand Canyon. Produced with the permission and oversight of the National Park Service, the filmmakers carried all of
their equipment on foot through 82 miles of hiking, creating the movie while following strict leave-no-trace principles. The result is a visually stunning adventure that celebrates the beauty of America’s public lands.
Best of all, attendance at this screening directly benefits Friends of VNMP. A significant portion of the evening’s box office proceeds will be donated to the organization based on the number of attendees who
learned about the event through Friends of Vicksburg. The more supporters who attend, the greater the contribution that will help fund preservation projects, educational programs, volunteer initiatives, and
special events throughout the park.
This film is suitable for the whole family, with no graphic violence, nudity, drug use, or other mature content, making it an excellent choice for visitors of all ages.
The organization encourages members, supporters, and friends to join them for an enjoyable evening at the Strand Theater and help support the work being done to preserve the history and stories of Vicksburg.
