VHS picks up two wins at the Cancer Strikeout Tournament

VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN)—Vicksburg High School softball team picked up two wins on Saturday in their annual Cancer Strikeout Tournament. VHS went 2-1 overall on the day.
VHS vs. Yazoo City
The Missy Gators defeated Yazoo City 14-12 in which the game was played in two and a half innings.

VHS was down 0-4 in the top of the first until they went up to bat. They managed to rack up 14 runs to go up 14-4. In the second inning, Yazoo City scraped up eight runs of their own. As time expired, VHS was able to walk away with the 14-12.
Camden McGloster hit three RBIs and an inside-the- park home run. Shandrea Lockridge hit an RBI and Madisyn Kimble smashed a triple(1 RBI). Taylor Howard finished with two hits while Kennedy Williams hit a double and single. Jakayla Hampton also hit an RBI while Lanie Kinstley, and Madison Foy all had steals at home.
Kimble struck out two batters.
VHS vs. Brookhaven
The Missy Gators came out on top in game two with a score of 6-1 over Brookhaven.
VHS took a 3-1 lead in the first inning after Avery VanNorman and Zion Harvey hit doubles. By the third inning, VanNorman and Lockridge both hit RBIs while Harvey earned a walk to put the final score at 6-1.
VanNorman went 2 for 3 at bat while Harvey(1 RBI), Lockridge(1 RBI) and Trinity McGloster each had a hit. Lili Kistler struck out one batter.

VHS vs. Yazoo County
The Missy Gators fell short 9-7 against Yazoo County in the final game.

Down 5-0 in the first inning, VHS quickly added three runs after a triple from Harvey and an RBI by Lockridge. By the third inning, the Missy Gators tightened the score to 6-5 Lockridge and Harmony Harris both hit RBIs.
VHS took the lead at one point of the game but YC managed to make a comeback.
Lockridge and Harvey finished with three RBIs and two hits. Trinity McGloster went 2 for 3 and VanNorman had one hit. Harris hit an RBI.
VHS will travel to play West Lincoln on Tuesday.
