Vicksburg’s Jordan Taylor Scores Game-Winning Touchdown in Mississippi All-State Game

SUMMIT, Miss. (VDN) — Vicksburg native and rising freshman Jordan Taylor made a name for himself Sunday, scoring the game-winning touchdown in the Mississippi All-State Football Game. Playing for Team Blue, Taylor’s late-game heroics sealed a 14-8 victory at Southwest Mississippi Community College.
With the game tied 8-8 and only a few minutes remaining, Taylor took a handoff and powered his way into the end zone for a 10-yard touchdown run. The score gave Team Blue the lead for good and capped off a strong all-around performance from the versatile athlete.
Taylor primarily lined up at tight end and running back but also made an impact on the defensive side of the ball. While playing defensive end, he recorded a sack and forced a fumble, showcasing his ability to contribute on both sides of the field.
The All-State selection capped off a memorable year for Taylor, who recently completed his time at Warren Central Junior High School. He helped lead the eighth grade football team to an undefeated season and a Little Six Championship under Head Coach Louis Green.

Taylor also excelled in basketball, where he played a key role in WCJHS’s Little Six Championship run under Head Coach Charles Swartz.

With his athletic achievements already stacking up, Taylor is one to watch as he prepares to begin his high school career.
