Vicksburg’s Rylan Liles Named Co-Captain of the Hi-Steppers at Hinds CC

Vicksburg native Rylan Liles has been named Co-Captain of the Hi-Steppers at Hinds Community College. Liles received the news last week as she is only in her freshman year.

“It’s a complete honor to be named Captain and I was full of emotions when I found out because I wanted this for a long time,” Liles said.

Rylan has never cheered but she has been dancing since the age of four when her mother first introduced her to the sport. In 2017 she joined the Debra Franco School of Dance where she participated in a variety of forms of dancing that included tap, ballet, and hip-hop.

After winning multiple competition awards, Liles decided to try out for the Hi-Steppers back in April. She found out she made the team the same day as she witnessed her dream come true.

“I always dreamed of being on a college dance team and my goal is to now grow a closer bond with the team,” Liles added.

Now that Rylan is officially a Co-Captain, she holds the responsibility of making sure everything is in line and keeping conflicts to a minimum within the squad as they have already popped their season off by supporting the football team.
