VJHS crushed Pearl 54-27 on Thursday; Flashes took a loss

Vicksburg Junior High School boys’ basketball team improved to 14-0 after taking down Pearl 54-27 on Thursday.

The Gators quickly took a 19-2 first quarter lead after Deonte Selvy Jr. hit a couple of 3-pointers while Corbin Walker and Jaquez Jones came away with some layups. By halftime, VJHS was up 28-7 as Jayden Stewart added a couple of points.

The Pirates managed to rack up some points in the second half but the game belonged to the Gators as they remain undefeated.

Selvy hit three 3-pointers and led with 15 points and Jones added 11. Walker scored 10 points while L. Davis contributed five and Jayden Stewart put up four. Jaylen Stewart added three points while A. Chiplin and Jordan Cruthirds both scored two.

VJHS will host Clinton on Saturday at 2 p.m.

St. Aloysius:

St. Aloysius Junior High boys took a 36-16 loss to Copiah Academy. Carter Lutrell, John Hossley and Keller Bradley all scored three points while Walt Andrews, Evan Mallard, Grant Gattle and Braylon Brown all scored two points.

The Lady Flashes loss 35-22 where Megan Theriot scored 10 points and Anslee Averett added six. Marley Gibellino scored four points while Elle Larse Larson and Kennadi Blassingame both hit a free throw.
