Von Mixon Jr. inducted into UAM AAA Hall of Fame

MONTICELLO, AR – Vicksburg native Von Mixon Jr. has been inducted into the African American Alumni (AAA) Hall of Fame at the University of Arkansas at Monticello. An awards reception was held on October 12 where Mixon was honored alongside LaTonya Block, Colby Boyce, Sr., Timothy Brasfield, Darryl Hawkins, Lisa Matheney, and Ronald Neal.

Von Mixon Jr. played for UAM in the early 2000s and broke records in his junior season. In 2004, Mixon caught 66 passes and finished the year with 1,245 receiving yards. He was also named All-South Region and 2004 1st Team All-Region.

Before signing to UAM, Mixon starred at Hinds Community College where he finished with 69 receptions and 750 receiving yards. He is also a 2001 graduate of Vicksburg High School where he led the Gators to a 7-4 season as a senior.
