VPD launches summer community Youth Streetball Program

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The city of Vicksburg, in collaboration with the Vicksburg Police Department, has announced a new Streetball program aimed at engaging local youth through sports, games and community interaction.
The Streetball Program will run from June 3 to July 10, offering a safe and active environment for children and teens ages 6 to 18.
This summer program goes beyond basketball—participants can enjoy volleyball, sack races, dodgeball, flag football and appearances from guest speakers. The event is designed to encourage teamwork, build community and provide a positive outlet during summer break.
Children ages 6 to 12 will participate at Warren Central Junior High, while those 13 to 18 will attend activities at Vicksburg Junior High. The program runs Tuesday through Friday from 4 to 10 p.m.
Space is limited, and early registration is encouraged. Forms are available online at https://shorturl.at/mEWlU or in person at the Vicksburg Police Department. A nonrefundable $25 registration fee (cash only) is required for the first child, with an additional $10 fee per sibling.
For families in need of financial assistance, support may be available. For more information, contact Police Chief Penny Jones at 601-636-2511 or Danielle Williams at 601-801-5311 or 601-218-1766.
The Vicksburg Police Department invites families to come together this summer and build lasting memories through this inclusive program.
