VWAA All-Stars earn runner-up titles at River Rumble Tournament

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The VWAA All-Stars put on a strong showing this past weekend at the River Rumble Tournament, held at Key City Park in Vicksburg, with their 6U, 7U and 8U teams each earning second-place finishes.

The 8U All-Stars entered Sunday’s single-elimination bracket as the fifth seed but quickly made a name for themselves. They opened with a 15-8 upset over the fourth-seeded Grove Park All-Stars, followed by a 13-5 win against the top-seeded Pearl All-Stars. Their impressive run came to an end in the championship game, where they fell to NWRAA.

The 7U squad began the day as the second seed and handled business early with a high-scoring 21-14 win over third-seeded Wesson. In the finals, they faced the undefeated NWRAA 7U team in a tightly contested matchup, ultimately finishing in second place.

The youngest VWAA group, the 6U All-Stars, also impressed. They entered bracket play as the fourth seed and delivered a major upset over the top-seeded Jackson Futures-White, 24-16. The team advanced to the finals where they battled the MRYB 6U All-Stars, the second seed, and finished as runners-up.

The tournament showcased the grit and talent of the VWAA All-Star teams, who made deep playoff runs across all three age groups and left their mark on the River Rumble.
