The Warren Central High School boys’ soccer team achieved a remarkable task on Tuesday by winning their first district championship since 2018. They secured the victory by defeating Ridgeland with a score of 3-2 in an intense shootout.
The game started off well for WC, with Jacob Porter scoring the first goal of the night and giving them a 1-0 lead. However, the Titans quickly bounced back and managed to score two goals, taking the lead. With only a few
minutes remaining in the game, Tyler Godshaw came through with a crucial goal, leveling the score and forcing a shootout.
During the shootout, Ebrahim Shuaibi, Laney Lewis, Godshaw, Jonah Artman, and Luke Bond all displayed exceptional skill by successfully scoring. Additionally, Colby Solomon showcased his talents by making a
game-winning save, which ultimately led to the Vikings earning the well-deserved championship trophy.
Under the guidance of Head Coach Greg Head, WC has had an impressive season, currently boasting a record of 13-4-1. This is a significant
improvement compared to the previous year when they only managed to win three games.
