Community debate surrounds Warren Central High School’s gym renovation. While the project boasts a multi-million dollar price tag, sleek design elements, and enhanced lighting, it’s the five support beams that have truly caught everyone’s positive attention.

Positioned intriguingly close to the basketball sideline, these beams are a mere 4 1/2 feet away, and are spaciously spread 15 feet apart. Such placement has resulted in mixed reactions. Many visitors now face an obstructed view, and athletes voice concerns over potential hazards.

However, the school’s leadership, especially the associate superintendent, vouches for the design. He not only emphasizes the $500,000 in savings but also reminds the public that other gyms harbor similar hazards.

In the community, the new pillars in Warren Central High School’s renovated gym have been a subject of intrigue, debate and concern. While they add a unique architectural feature, there are questions regarding safety and viewing obstructions.
