William Allen Farr Jr., 1954-2024

William Allen Farr, Jr, 69, of Ft Walton Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2024, at the VA Veterans Hospital in Biloxi, MS.

Graveside services will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Wintergreen Cemetery in Port Gibson, MS. Arrangements handled by Glenwood Funeral Home, Port Gibson, MS.

Allen was born in Jackson, MS to William Allen Farr, Sr & Mary Ellen Farr (McCoy) on August 8, 1954. He attended Pryor Jr High and was in the first graduating class of Ft Walton Beach High School in 1972. While serving in the Air Force, he cultivated a love of weather and meteorology, later parlaying that into working with NOAA and monitoring data during hurricane recon flights. Additionally, he discovered a passion for geology leading him to participate in several caving/spelunking expeditions in regional cave systems, of note – assisting in mapping portions of Marianna Caverns. He also loved camping in state and national parks.

Allen is preceded in death by his father, William Allen Farr, Sr.

He is survived by his children, Christine Fritts (Chris), Paul Farr (Megan), mother, Mary M Farr, brother, Steven C Farr, sister, Sandra D Farr, four grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and several cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Victim’s Advocate Support Services in your local communities or to your favorite state parks.
