15-year-old Charged in Port Gibson Shooting

PORT GIBSON, Miss.(VDN) — The Port Gibson Police Department responded to a shooting incident that occurred on Marginal Street Wednesday evening, resulting in a 15-year-old female sustaining injuries.
Following a thorough investigation, Byron January, 15 years of age, was arrested in connection with the incident. Byron January has been charged with aggravated assault and has been charged as an adult. He was subsequently arraigned and held on a $50,000 bond set by Honorable Judge Mareesha Odom.
Additionally, two other individuals, Or’Javion Hill and Or’Darion Hill, both 17 years old, were charged with accessory after the fact. Jamarion Mallett, 18 years of age, has been charged with shooting inside the city limits.
“We take incidents like this very seriously, and we are committed to ensuring justice is served. If there are any plans of retaliation or further violence, I want to make it clear that every individual involved will be held accountable. We will continue to work tirelessly to maintain peace and protect our community.” My prayers are with everyone that’s involved in this incident,” said Russell Dorsey, Chief of Police.
