Vicksburg High boys, Missy Gators earn road wins over Port Gibson
PORT GIBSON, Miss. (VDN) — Vicksburg High School’s boys’ and girls’ basketball teams picked up a pair of road victories on Tuesday night as both squads defeated Port Gibson High School. The Missy Gators claimed a 42-33 win, and the VHS boys followed with a 48-34 victory to complete the sweep.
The Missy Gators controlled the pace early and carried a 25-13 lead into halftime. Jordan Grace led the offense with 13 points, while freshman Madisyn Kimble added nine. Zion Knox contributed eight points, and both Alaina Williams and Kenley Henderson scored four. Nykeria Watson finished with two points, and Nakia Jeffers and Aaliyah Mims each knocked down a free throw to round out the scoring.
The Vicksburg boys also set the tone from the opening tip, building an 18-7 halftime advantage before closing out the 48-34 win. Sophomore Jaquez Jones led all scorers with 16 points. Jaquez Marshall came through with a strong second half and finished with 14 points, while Marlyn Foy added 12. Jadarius Henderson scored four points, and Daquan Warfield chipped in two.
Both teams will return to action on Friday as they travel to face McComb High School.
