Six Vicksburg High football players sign on National Signing Day
VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN) — Six Vicksburg High School football players signed to compete at the collegiate level Wednesday during National Signing Day.
Shaun Archer Jr., Darius Stamps, Marquis Knight, Corey Wilkerson, Thomas McKnight and Karter Thomas all signed scholarships after helping lead the Gators through a turnaround season under head coach Christopher Lacey. Vicksburg finished the 2025 season with a 5-6 record and advanced to the first round of the playoffs.
Stamps, Archer, Wilkerson and Thomas anchored the Gators’ offensive line during the 2025 season. Behind their efforts, Vicksburg rushed for 1,828 yards and added 1,389 passing yards.
Archer signed with Alcorn State University, becoming a Division I signee. He earned All-District honors and will follow in his father’s footsteps by playing for the Braves.
Stamps, Thomas and Wilkerson all signed with Mississippi Delta Community College, where they will continue playing in the trenches. Thomas was named the district’s top offensive lineman, while Stamps and Wilkerson earned All-District honors.
McKnight and Knight contributed as skill players for the Gators. McKnight signed with Southwest Mississippi Community College after a standout offensive season in which he recorded 33 receptions for 667 yards and five touchdowns, averaging 20 yards per catch. He was named the district’s top wide receiver.
Knight earned All-State and All-District honors for his performance on both offense and defense and signed with Millsaps College. During the 2025 season, he totaled three tackles, one sack, one interception, 231 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
