Warren Central football players sign college scholarships on National Signing Day

VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN) — Multiple Warren Central High School football players signed collegiate scholarships Wednesday during National Signing Day, continuing the program’s momentum following its state championship season.

Carmelo Clark, Chaka Walker, Caleb Lane, Daniel Pitzer, Kermariyun Coffie, Ashton Saleh and Jamari Gaines all signed to play at the next level after helping lead the Vikings to a 12-2 record and the 2025 state championship under head coach Josh Morgan. Warren Central defeated Hattiesburg High School 56-34 in the title game, with each signee playing a key role in the victory.

Walker, Pitzer, Coffie and Lane signed with Hinds Community College. Clark signed with Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, while Saleh also signed to Mississippi Delta. Gaines signed with Coahoma Community College.

Pitzer, Coffie and Clark anchored the Vikings’ offensive line, helping power an offense that produced nearly 1,500 passing yards and more than 3,500 rushing yards during the season. Pitzer and Clark earned All-State honors for their blocking performance. Coffie signed with Hinds as a team manager.

Lane and Walker starred defensively for the Vikings. Lane earned All-District honors after finishing his career with 31 tackles, two interceptions and three pass deflections. Walker recorded 80 tackles, one interception and eight pass deflections and was named All-District and All-State.

Saleh played tight end for Warren Central and was known for his blocking ability, contributing to an offense that totaled more than 5,000 yards. He signed with Mississippi Delta Community College.

Gaines finished the season with 93 tackles and three sacks, earning All-District and All-State honors before signing with Coahoma Community College.

Michael Hall was not in attendance at the signing ceremony due to early enrollment at Holmes Community College. Hall completed the season with 41 receptions for 504 yards and six touchdowns. He earned All-District honors, was selected to play in the Bernard Blackwell All-Star Game, was named the district’s Most Outstanding Wide Receiver, and was part of the Vikings’ state championship team.
