Kelie Brown signs to cheer at Alcorn State University
VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN) — Kelie Brown, a Vicksburg native, has signed a collegiate scholarship to cheer at Alcorn State University.
The announcement was made Monday afternoon on the program’s Facebook page.
“I was looking around for a certain university, so this was the perfect opportunity for me,” Brown said. “Plus my junior high coach(Kala Hunter) is on the staff as well, so why not.”
Brown will cheer for both the football and basketball teams under head coach Timothy Queen.
“I’m very excited to be cheering at Alcorn where I’ll be in the Queen B era,” she added.
Before officially committing, Brown said she had a successful meeting with Queen.
Brown is a 2025 graduate of River City Early College. During her varsity years, she cheered at Vicksburg High School, where she was named an All-American at the USM Camp and earned Most Valuable Flyer honors for two years. She cheered under head coach Aeriel Patten where she was the team’s co-captain.
Brown plans to major in biology with a pre-med focus.
