Kory Grayer

Grayer pleaded guilty earlier this year but fled on the day of his scheduled sentencing in February. He was captured last month by U.S. Marshals in Harrison County, where he also picked up an additional drug trafficking charge.

Judge James Chaney sentenced Grayer to 40 years for drug trafficking, 10 years for possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and five years for a second conviction of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.

Assistant District Attorney Branan Southerland represented the state in the case.

Grayer was arrested in 2024 at an apartment complex where authorities seized approximately 1 ounce of cocaine, 3 ounces of methamphetamine, 5.5 pounds of high-grade marijuana, more than 1,400 MDMA pills, seven firearms — including one reported stolen — and $600 in cash.

At the time of his arrest, Grayer also had outstanding warrants with the Vicksburg Police Department and the Mississippi Department of Corrections for the sale of controlled substances and probation violations.
