Remembering Marion Shane Redditt, Sr.

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Marion Shane Redditt, Sr. passed away on Tuesday, Sept.29, 2026, doing just what he loved. He was 59 years old.

He was born on January 18, 1967, in Vicksburg, Miss., to Robert E. Redditt, III and Linday Ray Redditt. 

Life was never too big for him nor any task or challenge. As a very avid outdoorsman, he would convince anyone he could to join in an all-day duck hunt, a river catfish trip but goodness don’t let the white perch be biting, that week was blocked out. Of course, any fun would quickly be tabled should it be time to plant or attend to the garden. For he fell right into the footsteps and had mastered the art of his late father, Robert, that we all knew as the community pro when it came to the garden. the grandchildren changed everything, he loved his children with all his heart, but those grandbabies altered the trajectory of his life.

There are many men we will know throughout our walk of life, but none brought out the energy like him. He could convince you to go catch buffalo fish at daylight after a night shift at IP and then have you help drag a deer he shot in the deepest hole of Oakridge.

Fearless, genuine, and always there when needed, he battled and pushed through struggles to be remembered as the Man that would be there for you.

He is survived by his children Marion Shane Redditt, Jr. (Susie) and Marcy Carson (Jason); grandchildren Brantley Odom, Jenna Carson, Shayna Redditt, Trivette Redditt, Connie Schnarrs, and Brittany Tanner; great-grandchildren Waylon Tardo, Kamryn Tanner, and Brayleigh Tanner; his mother Linda Ray Redditt; and his brother Ricky Redditt (Bettye).

Visitation will be from 12 noon until 2 p.m., Monday, Oct. 5, 2026, until the hour of the services in Glenwood Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.
