A Vicksburg man is facing two life sentences  plus 400 years in prison after being convicted of 10 counts of Possession of Child Pornography and two counts of Sexual Battery of a Child under 14.

Carl DeAnthony Smith was convicted on all 12 counts last Wednesday when it took the jury just 14 minutes to come back with a guilty verdict.

During the two-day trial it was determined that Smith sexually abused a teenager and admitted to Deputy Chief Troy Kimble that he had sex with the victim a few years ago who was age 10 at the time. Between 250-500 videos of child pornography were found on Smith’s phone, including disturbing images of infants.

Assistant District Attorney Branan Southerland, assisted by ADA Liem Walker, prosecuted the case.

Smith is facing 20 years to life for the two Sexual Battery charges and 40 years for each of the 10 Possession of Child Pornography. Southerland will be seeking the maximum sentence of two life terms plus 400 years.

Judge Toni Terrett will be sentencing Smith on January 4, 2024.
