Former Panola County Employees Arrested for Fuel Card Fraud
JACKSON, Miss. – State Auditor Shad White announced that Special Agents from his office have arrested Carvelle Russell, former Panola County Road Department Employee, and Anthony Davis, former Panola County Solid Waste (PCSW) employee, for allegedly using a county fuel card for their own personal vehicles.
Between June 2024 and September 2024, Russell took a fuel card assigned to a Panola County Road Department vehicle and used it to purchase fuel for his own personal vehicle. Additionally, between July 2024 and September 2024, Davis took a fuel card assigned to a PCSW vehicle and used it to purchase fuel for his own personal vehicle.
“The dedicated team at the State Auditor’s Office will continue to work closely with prosecutors to get record results for taxpayers,” said State Auditor Shad White.
If convicted Russell and Davis both face up to $5,000 in fines and 10 years if convicted. All persons arrested by the Mississippi Office of the State Auditor are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
