Franklin named Co-Lin Cheer Coach
Story from Co-Lin Athletics:
WESSON – Mary Catherine Franklin of Brookhaven has been named Copiah-Lincoln Community College Cheer Coach effective April 2, 2024. Franklin will also serve as an Enrollment Specialist/Recruiter in the Office of Enrollment Services.
Franklin is a graduate of Co-Lin where she was a member of the Co-Lin Cheer squad and Lady Wolves Tennis team and was named NJCAA Distinguished All-American. She was elected as Miss Co-Lin, Homecoming Queen, and was inducted into the college’s Hall of Fame in 2010. She was heavily involved on campus during her time as a student including serving as a Trailblazer, Phi Theta Kappa officer, Student Government Association, and Sigma Kappa Delta honor society.
After Co-Lin, she earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Mississippi State University where she graduated Summa Cum Laude.
Franklin later returned to Co-Lin and graduated from the Associate Degree Nursing program where she was class Vice President. She has worked as a registered nurse for the past eight years.
The Co-Lin Cheer squad is a co-ed squad offering full tuition scholarships to members. Any current or incoming Co-Lin student interested in trying out for the 2024-2025 cheer squad should attend the clinic on Wednesday, April 17 from 7:30-9:00 p.m. in Callendar Hall on the college’s Wesson Campus.
