Hattiesburg murder suspect arrested

UPDATE/ARREST: Julio Cesar Pineda, 42, has been arrested and charged with one (1) count of 1st Degree Murder in connection to the death of Josie Windham, 29. The incident was determined to be domestic in nature.

Cesar has been transported and booked into the Forrest County Detention Center.

This is an ongoing investigation and more information will be released once available.

DEATH INVESTIGATION: Hattiesburg Police are investigating the death of a white female who was found unresponsive on a sidewalk near an apartment complex in the 2300 block of West 7th Street. The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, April 17, 2024.

The Hattiesburg Police Crime Scene Unit confirmed the victim had been shot, and the 29-year-old female victim was pronounced dead on the scene. At this time, her name is not being released until immediate family has been notified.

Hattiesburg Police do have a person of interest in custody. No other information is being released at this time as the investigation is ongoing. More details will be released once available.
