VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — A shots fired incident outside LD’s last weekend is still under investigation, according to Vicksburg Mayor George Flaggs.

Mayor Flaggs said a shots-fired incident at LD’s last weekend is still under investigation. Flaggs spoke at the Rotary Club luncheon on Thursday and was asked if the city had taken a position on the incident.

“My position is the Chief’s position. You should ask her,” responded Flaggs. “It is still under investigation.”

At about 12:25 a.m. last Saturday, a fight broke out inside LD’s. Onsite security broke up the fight and was clearing out the facility when shots were fired outside, according to Vicksburg Police Chief Penny Jones. According to eyewitnesses, two rounds of shots were fired. A video recorded four shots and another one shortly thereafter.

Historically, the city has met with business owners who have had incidents involving a weapon being fired. The business is usually asked to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that targets improving security at their business. Chief Jones stated there is already an MOU with LD’s.

In a text response to VDN, Jones noted two prior incidents at LD’s in the past six months. One involved a domestic dispute in which a man was upset that his girlfriend was out with friends. The other was a fight between two women who share children with the same man.

Jones said that based on her investigation so far, she sees no reason to take further action against LD’s.
