Lady Vikes defeated South Panola to advance to the second round

Vicksburg, Miss.-Warren Central High School girls’ soccer team advances to the next round after defeating South Panola 6-1 in round 1 of the playoffs on Friday. Senior Jordan Polk had another dominating performance as she came away with three goals in the win.

“I’m excited to see how we pulled off the and we’re now ready for round two,” Polk said. “Our loss to Saltillo in the playoffs last year made us play hard so we don’t want that to happen again and we’ve been practicing really hard.”

Polk scored the first goal in the win which was followed by goals from Brooke Steed and Melissa Herrle. Polk scored again before halftime to put the score at 4-0. Coming out of halftime, the Lady Vikes were able to score twice as Polk scored again and Kennedy Smith also scored the last goal.

The Lady Vikes will host Neshoba Central on Saturday for round two of the playoffs.

“We’re going to come out and play hard like we’ve been doing all year,” Polk added.
