Lamar Dwayne Gray Sr. was born to his parents Katie Mae Gray and James Scott, on October 23, 1977, in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Lamar was baptized at Wayside Apostolic Church of Deliverance. Lamar graduated from Warren Central High School and entered the United States Marine Corps after graduation. Lamar later attended Hinds Community College and received a certification in engineering. Lamar was a very hard-working and innovative craftsman who took pride in his work and in providing for his family.

Lamar was preceded in death by his parents, Katie Gray and James Scott, and brother Darrell Shelton.  He married Denisha, the love of his life, in 2003, who survives him. Lamar is also survived by his daughters, Lamaria Gray and Taylor Gray; his sons, Lamar D. Gray Jr. and Mark D. Gray. Four beautiful grandchildren, Kamden Gray, Lailyn Gray, Loyal Gray, and Lennox Gray.  Two sisters Tina Turner and Kalana Gray. Five brothers, Anthony Gray. Larry Gray Sr., Gregory Shelton, Paul Shelton, Morris Shelton (Andrea) and Rosa Lee Sanders. One aunt: Chaney Lee Peterson,  a special niece Alexia Gray and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins including the Bunch and Lumpkin Families.

Lamar was known for his love of football and family. He was a loving dedicated son, uncle, brother, father, husband, and friend to all those around him.  If you needed Lamar to help with anything, he was there.  Although Lamar liked his solitude, he most definitely enjoyed joking around and sharing his infectious smile and laughter.  He loved being called Paw Paw and running around with his grandbabies.

As an avid Chicago Bears fan, he got to finally see his team play in person on a trip with his wife to New Orleans.
