Longtime educator, childcare center owner Ruth Lowe Dies
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Ruth Lowe, a longtime educator and owner of Kiddie City Childcare & Learning Center, has died.
News of Lowe’s passing became public Sunday after a family member shared the announcement on social media.
“At approximately 1:30 a.m. today, our mother passed away, surrounded by her loved ones, and is now resting peacefully with God,” the post read. “While she’s been ill for a while, we were not expecting her to leave us so soon. One thing’s certain — she gave it one heck of a fight.”
The family encouraged others to cherish time with loved ones and to be present during times of medical care.
“Let this be a reminder to hold on to your loved ones a little closer,” the post continued. “Do all you can to love on them every chance you have. And please — make sure you, or someone you trust, are available to advocate and ask questions during hospital visits and stays.”
Lowe was a graduate of Rosa A. Temple High School and earned degrees from both Alcorn State University and Jackson State University. She spent many years serving in the Vicksburg-Warren School District, both as a teacher and in administrative roles, leaving a lasting impact on countless students and colleagues.
She was also a respected member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
Lowe is survived by many family members and former students whose lives she touched through education and mentorship.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time.
