Man, 70, Found Beaten Unconscious In Trunk Of His Vehicle In Hazlehurst

A man in his 70s was found in the trunk of his vehicle sitting in his driveway on Monticello Street in Hazlehurst. He had been badly beaten and was unconscious.

According to Assistant Police Chief Terrell Davis, the man was identified as Jerry Moore. The incident happened on December 15th.

Moore’s niece found him in the trunk. Assistant Chief Davis said they are still looking for suspects and there are no leads at this time.

Nothing was stolen from the man’s home or vehicle. It did not appear to be a robbery, police said.

Moore is currently in the ICU at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He has severe head and facial injuries.
