Matthew Gullett stepping down as Warren Central’s Head Volleyball Coach

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Mathew Gullet is stepping down as Warren Central High School’s Head Volleyball Coach. The two-time Vicksburg Daily News Coach of the Year announced that he has accepted a head coaching job at Hancock County Middle School.
“I’ve enjoyed my time at Warren Central and I’ve worked with some great teachers and coaches over the years,” Gullet said. “This is something that me and my wife have talked about for a while so I applied and got the job.”
Gullet has been with WC’s program since the start of volleyball in 2011. He served three years as an assistant coach before taking over the program, where he has remained as the head coach.
Gullet has led the Lady Vikes to multiple winning seasons as well as helping his team to their first playoff win. Just two years ago, Warren Central High School was under construction, forcing the team to play at the junior high school. Late in the 2023 season, Gullet got the opportunity to have his team play in their newly renovated gym defeating Pearl High School.

Although Gullet is now leaving the program, the memories he made and the players he impacted will forever grace the halls of WC.
“I want to thank the Vicksburg-Warren School District for 22 good years and for allowing me to work with some great female athletes,” Gullet added. “I’m looking forward to some shorter seasons and living on the coast, because that’s always been a dream for my family.”
Gullett is a 1993 graduate of Vicksburg High School and he will soon be taking over a program that has played for multiple championships.
