MGCCC baseball player signs with SE Louisiana
PERKINSTON — One of the biggest bats in the Mississippi Gulf Coast lineup will continue his collegiate baseball career at NCAA Division I Southeastern Louisiana.
Outfielder Dom Jackson has signed to play for the Lions after hitting .349 with 13 home runs and 52 RBI as a freshman.
“Southeastern has been showing me love for a really long time,” he said. “It’s a great program and they have a lot of good things going. They’re excited to have me be a part of that, so it felt like the right move.”
The Lions went 30-28 and finished third in the Southland Conference tournament under second-year coach Bobby Barbier.
The 6-foot-3, 215-pounder from Gulf Breeze, Fla., was a key contributor in the Bulldogs lineup last season.
“He’s been an awesome kid,” Gulf Coast coach Zach Allen said. “He’s the ideal Mississippi Gulf Coast baseball player. He comes to work every day, and he worked really hard over the summer to get faster. He’s come a long way from where he was last year, and he was good for us last year. I think he’ll be really good this year.”
Jackson and the Bulldogs will get their 2025 season started in January, and he’ll have his eyes on a bunch of wins at Perk before heading to Hammond.
“Gulf Coast has done nothing but give me opportunities and put me in the best position to be successful,” he said. “They put in great words about me with the coaches, and ultimately, I wouldn’t be at Southeastern if it wasn’t for Gulf Coast.”
