One in custody after alleged stabbing

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — One person has been placed in custody after an alleged Sunday afternoon stabbing in Vicksburg.

An injured man showed up at an area nursing home with an injury to his neck. He has alleged he was stabbed. According to an eyewitness, the young man asked for a ride to the nursing home from the area of the River City Rescue Mission. The victim then walked a short distance from the nursing home where he was met by police. The man was moving under his own power and the injury does not appear to be life threatening.

After being loaded into Fire Medic 40, the victim was taken to an area hospital.

Shortly thereafter, several Vicksburg Police units left the scene and headed to the River City Rescue Mission. They were seen talking to another young man wearing a red shirt and black and red pants. After a brief conversation, the male was put in handcuffs and placed in a marked unit for transport to the Vicksburg Police Department without incident.
