Raymond High School track star Shedrick Rodgers Jr. signed a collegiate scholarship to Mississippi State University on Wednesday.

“They have a bunch of amazing people and the coaches made me feel right at home,” Rodgers said.

Rodgers, who is currently in his senior year, is a state champion in the 200 and 400 meter dash and he also finished second in Nationals over the summer while running for Olympic Bound under Head Coach Mike Fields.

“Nationals was a special place to be and that’s something I’ll never forget,” Rodgers added.

Although Rodgers signed his name on the dotted line, he still has his senior season to complete at RHS where he is looking forward to competing for another state title.

“I want to thank my family, friends and coaches for always sticking with me especially during this process,” Rodgers said.

Shedrick is the son of Shedrick Sr. and Wanda Rodgers. He will be majoring in kinesiology and neuromechanics.
