The National Weather Service in Jackson has issued a Wind Advisory for the Vicksburg and Warren County area.

Additionally, severe thunderstorms will likely affect our area on Monday afternoon and evening. Damaging wind gusts, tornadoes, and some long-tracked tornadoes will be possible. Hail up to the size of quarters will also be possible.

Starting at 9 a.m. Monday, southeast winds of 25 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 to 50 mph are expected. The advisory continues into the early morning hours of Tuesday.

Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down, and power outages may occur. You are advised to secure outdoor objects.

This strong wind can also make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles. Please use extra caution while on the roadway.

Take precautions and make arrangements now. “Hope is not a plan,” John Elfer, Executive Director Warren County Emergency Management.
