Sutcliffe named Hinds CC Women’s Head Soccer Coach

RAYMOND, Miss. – Lydia Sutcliffe has been selected as the next Head Coach for the Hinds Community College Women’s Soccer program.

Sutcliffe stated, “I am absolutely delighted at the opportunity to be entrusted in the leadership role of the women’s soccer program here at Hinds, I have been at Hinds for some years now and really love working with the students, players, staff in the college and overall community here in Raymond. My vision is to guide our student athletes to success in the classroom, develop their life skills and motivate them, being more competitive on the soccer field. I will incorporate the college’s mission and values into the women’s soccer department, with integrity and accountability being most important. I express huge gratitude to our president, Dr. Vacik, our athletic director, Nathan Werremeyer and administration for their trust and belief and I’m so excited to continue to work in such a great college and athletic department.”

Sutcliffe served as the Assistant Coach of the Hinds Women’s Soccer team since the 2019 season. Her duties included assisting the Head Coach in training the student athletes, running practices, and recruiting athletes to come to Hinds.

“Lydia has been a crucial part of the women’s soccer program for the past four seasons and has really stepped up under the last two head coaches to show us that she is ready for this challenge,” said Hinds AD Nathan Werremeyer. Werremeyer also remarked that, “she is a big part of the Hinds family and we felt it was time for her to put her stamp on the program and lead it into the future.”

Before coming to Hinds, Sutcliffe was the assistant women’s soccer coach at UWA from June 2016 until May 2019. Additionally, she played at the University of West Alabama (UWA) from 2011 until 2014 and was part of the first women’s soccer program there. She was also part of the Gulf South Conference (GSC) All-First Team in 2012 & 2013 and received NSCAA All-South Region and Daktronics All-South Region Honors while there. Sutcliffe graduated from UWA in December 2015 with a physical education degree.

Originally from Brighouse, England, she graduated from Huddersfield New College in May 2011. She currently resides in Raymond with her husband William Kazary.
