VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN)—Two people were shot in Vicksburg on Sunday, with one seriously injured, according to the Vicksburg Police Department.

The early morning Sunday shooting, where two were shot in Vicksburg, was one of several in the past week. A shootout happened at the Waffle House on Clay and a drive-by shooting happened earlier in the week on Grange Hall.

Shooting Investigation Press Release from VPD:

At approximately 4:00 AM this morning, officers responded to Arcadia Street for a report of shots fired. While investigating, a second call came in reporting additional shots fired in the area of 2nd North Street. Both incidents were determined to be connected. Shortly after, officers responded to the hospital where a 23 year old Black male arrived with gunshot wounds. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later transported to Jackson for further treatment. A 19 year old black female also suffered a graze wound to her ear.

Preliminary investigation suggests the shooting stemmed from a domestic-related dispute between two males involving the female. This incident may also be connected to a shooting that occurred early Saturday morning.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Vicksburg Police Department at 601-636-2511.
