VHS came away with wins over Columbus

Vicksburg High School’s boys and girls basketball teams both emerged victorious over Columbus.

For the Missy Gators, it was a dominant performance on the road as they secured a 47-28 win. Kierra James stood out with an impressive 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Cynia Johnson contributed nine points and six
rebounds. Jordan Grace added eight points, Rodrianna Hall scored six, and Terri Boyd chipped in with four points. Carjessa Albert and Jada Erwin both made valuable contributions to the scoreboard with two points each. The Missy Gators, led by Head Coach Troy Stewart, now hold a record of 7-16 for
the year.

Boys:

Meanwhile, the Gators showcased their skills on the court and emerged victorious with a 61-47 win over Columbus, improving their overall
record to 18-4. The game remained evenly matched until halftime, with both teams tied at 26. However, the final quarter proved to be the turning point for VHS, as they tightened their
defense and allowed only seven points. Tyler Henderson continued to dominate with an impressive 23 points, while Davian Williams added 18 points to the team’s total. Jaylin Jackson made significant contributions from
the free-throw line, scoring seven points. Lazaveon Sylvester added three points to the scoreboard, and Kealon Bass made two crucial free throws to help seal the win.
