VHS tennis team takes down Callaway on Senior Night

VICKSBURG, Miss.(VHS)–The Vicksburg High School Tennis Team secured a decisive victory over Callaway High School on senior night, marking their first district match win of the season in a 6-1 victory. This achievement reflects the team’s dedication, hard work, and commitment to excellence on the court. Under the leadership of Coach Monica Williams, the
players have demonstrated strong teamwork, resilience, and skill, paving the way for continued success.
“Last night was bittersweet,” said Coach Monica Williams. “Winning our district match was an incredible achievement, but saying goodbye to five remarkable seniors made it an emotional night. Kennedy Mullen, Alysha Murrell, Midori Allen, Gideon Thompson, and Sam Baker have been the heart of our team, demonstrating leadership, dedication, and passion for the game. Their impact extends far beyond the court, and they will truly be missed. I am so proud of everything they have accomplished, and I know they have bright futures ahead.”
Kennedy Mullins earned shutout wins in the girl’s singles(6-0,6-0) against Madison Williams. Chaez Moore took home a victory in the boy’s singles(6-0,6-2) over Tyler Wells.
Sam Baker and Gideon Thompson both teamed up in the boy’s doubles(6-2,6-0) for a win while Arthur Davis and Kaleb Bailey came out on top in the boy’s doubles 2(6-2,6-0).
The girls’ doubles was a hard-fought battle as Grace Tyler and Madison Bailey finished strong(4-6, 6-6, 7-5, 10-8). Midori Allen and Alysha Murrell defeated Krista Harris and Paige Wells in the girl’s doubles 2(6-1,6-2).
The Gators only took one loss in the win which was in the mixed doubles.
