Vicksburg Military Park and USACE waive fees for Veterans Day
VICKSBURG, Ms – The Vicksburg National Military Park will waive entrance fees in honor of Veterans Day on Monday, November 11. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) will also waive day use fees at its more than 2,850 USACE-operated recreation areas nationwide in observance of the holiday.
The Vicksburg National Military Park preserves the site of the Civil War’s pivotal Battle of Vicksburg, a 47-day siege that ended on July 4, 1863, giving the Union control of the Mississippi River. The park features over 1,300 monuments, a restored Union gunboat, and 16 miles of trenches and earthworks, offering visitors a glimpse into this historic conflict through tours, exhibits, and reenactments.
The USACE waiver covers fees for the recreation areas’ boat launch ramps and swimming beaches. The waiver does not apply to camping and camping-related services, or fees for specialized facilities (group picnic shelters) and events.
