VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN) — Amiyah Montgomery, a Vicksburg native, has been named Alcorn State University’s Cheerleader of the Week, the cheer program announced Saturday on social media.

“Amiyah consistently shows up with focus, leadership and a positive attitude,” said head coach Timothy Queen. “Her work ethic and commitment to excellence speaks a lot about her character.”

Montgomery is in her first year with the Braves after signing with the program in May 2025. Before competing at the collegiate level, she was an All-American cheerleader at Warren Central High School, where she cheered under head coach Erica Wilson. Montgomery also served as one of the team’s captains during her high school career.

Now cheering for Alcorn State, Montgomery continues to make an early impact with the program under Queen’s leadership, earning recognition for her performance, attitude and dedication
