Warren Central football players signed collegiate scholarships

Warren Central High School celebrated the accomplishments of several football players as they signed collegiate scholarships on Wednesday.

Ben McMullin, Beau Davis, Garrett Orgas, Julien Demby, and Zack Evans all made their commitments official at a signing ceremony held at the school.In a special moment, team managers Dylan Massey and Eric Lingle also
signed scholarships.

Demby:

Julien Demby, a standout linebacker, announced his decision to attend the University of South Alabama. Demby expressed his excitement about the friendly atmosphere and felt that it was the perfect fit for him. Jay Hopson, a Vicksburg native and cornerback
coach at South Alabama, heavily recruited Demby.

Demby had offers from multiple junior colleges in Mississippi, as well as Central Arkansas and the University of Louisiana Monroe. His stellar
performance of 117 tackles and five interceptions in 2023 helped him earn the title of VDN Co-Defensive Player of the Year. He also participated in the Mississippi/Alabama All-Star Game.

Orgas:

Garrett Orgas, an outstanding safety, chose Pearl River Community College (PRCC) as his destination. Orgas believed PRCC was the best fit for him and appreciated the coaching staff. He received an official offer from PRCC in
November. Orgas had offers from Mississippi Gulf Coast CC, Hinds, East Central, Delta State, and Holmes CC. He also participated in the Mississippi/Alabama All-Star Game, after contributing 89 tackles, four interceptions, and
three pass deflections during the 2023
season.

McMullin:

Despite experiencing a family tragedy, Ben McMullin’s determination on the football field led him to sign with Louisiana Christian. McMullin considered it a home away from home and accepted an offer he couldn’t
refuse.

Despite losing his father shortly before his senior year, he managed to make significant
contributions to the team with 38 tackles, 27 solos, three tackles for loss, one fumble recovery, and the first touchdown of the season. McMullin expressed his gratitude to his mom, grandparents, and coaches for their
support.

“They’ve all been my rock this season so I thank them for that,” he said.

Beau Davis:

Beau Davis, an aggressive offensive lineman, signed with Mississippi College to continue his dominance in the trenches. Davis aimed for the bestschool academically and believed
Mississippi College aligned with his
academic goals.

“I loved every school I visited but I want to
go to the best school academically and they
are the best for what I want to study,” Davis
said.

He played a key rolein protecting freshman quarterback Nash Morgan throughout the season. Davis was instrumental in an offense
that rushed for 1,448 yards, passed for 1,485 yards, and blocked for 25 rushing touchdowns and 11 passing touchdowns. He received All-State honors and participated in the Bernard
Blackwell All-Star Game.

Davis plans to pursue a major in Kinesiology.

Evans:

Zack Evans, VDN’s Co-Athlete of the Year, chose Mississippi Gulf Coast CC to showcase his skills as a wide receiver. Evans opted for the Bulldogs’ program over other options such as
East Mississippi CC, East Central, Co-Lin, Hinds, and the University of Southern Illinois.

“They have plenty of talent over there and I
think it’s a good place to show the true
athlete that I am.” Zack said.

Despite being underrated, Evans accumulated 1,108 All-Purpose yards, 33 receptions, 589
receiving yards, 12 total touchdowns, and one interception. He made the All-District Team and the All-County Team.

Evans cherished winning the district title with his small class and expressed gratitude to his family and coaches.

Dylan Massey and Eric Lingle:

Team managers Dylan Massey and Eric Lingle were recognized as valuable additions to the team.

Massey will continue his journey at Co-Lin, while Lingle will attend Hinds CC. Assistant Coach Tim Hughes acknowledged their contributions and highlighted their
future roles on the collegiate level.

Head Coach Josh Morgan led these athletes, and under his guidance, the Vikings reached the second round of the playoffs..
