The Lady Vikes scored 19 unanswered points after halftime while their defense limited the Missy Gators’ scoring opportunities and forced multiple turnovers.

“I’m very excited that we came out and won and we proved  a lot of people wrong who said we would lose,” Madison Ward said.

Vicksburg struck first when Antonia Carter intercepted a pass to give the Missy Gators strong field position. Quarterback Jordan Powell capitalized with a 12-yard touchdown scramble to give VHS a 6-0 lead, and she added runs of 22 and 25 yards throughout the contest.

Warren Central answered quickly as Ka’Ryn Henderson broke free for a 65-yard touchdown run to tie the game at 6-6. Defensively, Kylee Chambers and Camara Evans made early stops in the backfield to slow VHS.

Both teams generated big plays in the first half. Jada Erwin hauled in a tipped pass, while Aaliyah Mims later connected with Erwin on a 30-yard completion.

Vicksburg moved the ball early in the second half, highlighted by Powell’s 25-yard run, but the Missy Gators were unable to convert drives into points.

Warren Central extended its lead behind key plays on special teams and defense. Shaniya Lewis sparked momentum with a 25-yard punt return.

Camara Evans later returned an interception 55 yards for a touchdown, and Tra’marianna Garrett caught the extra-point pass from Naya.

Ward sealed the game with a 75-yard interception return for a touchdown, while Keasia Williams added another interception late for the Lady Vikes to halt any remaining momentum from Vicksburg.

The win improves Warren Central to 2-0 on the season, with the Lady Vikes allowing just three points per game. Vicksburg High falls to 1-1.
