Watts, Jordan,King, and Bailey Named Captains of the WC Cheerleading Team
VICKSBURG, MS. – Amelia King, Laura Bailey, Sarah Jordan, and Tatum Watts have been named Captains of the WC Cheerleading Team. All four ladies have plenty of experience when it comes to cheering.
Bailey:
Bailey is in her sixth year of cheering since being introduced to the sport in the seventh grade by Coach Lee. She testified that there are plenty of things she loves about cheering but narrowed it down to two.
“I love stunting at tumbling the best because it’s really fun,” Bailey said.
Over the years, Bailey has won multiple awards, including the America Needs Cheerleaders Award (twice), Most Spirited, and All-American.
As Captain, Bailey is in charge of prep rallies and helping the team maintain a good image along with the other three captains.
King:
After being a gymnast in her elementary years, King decided to go out for cheerleading in the ninth grade. A few years later she is now one of the leaders of her squad after much hard work.
“I knew once I got to high school I wanted to cheer especially when I saw how big it was then I knew it was for me,” King said.
King was named All-American over the summer and has set some big goals for her team.
“The goal is to win Nationals and we’re going to keep things in order so that we can achieve that,” she added.
As captain, King creates dances, helps lead the team, and sends out information within the team.
Jordan:
In the seventh grade, Jordan decided to try out for the cheerleading team and has stuck with it ever since. She now is responsible for keeping the team in line, helping her teammates with their roles, and assisting with teaching different dances.
Jordan also has her eyes set on Nationals as cheer has been so important in her life.
“It’s very exciting and it makes me happy that I get to inspire other little girls and that always makes my day,” Jordan said.
Sarah plans to go into nursing after high school.
Watts:
Watts decided to try out for cheer in the seventh grade after visually falling in love with it. She now stands as a proud captain and has enjoyed the years with her team.
“I love the sisterhood that we all have with each other and I wouldn’t trade it for anything,” Watts said.
As Captain, she helps prepare for games and works on confidence within the team as she is aiming for the Lady Vikes to win Nationals this year.
“The goal for this year is to have fun and win Nationals so hopefully that happens,” she added.
Watts plans on attending nursing school after graduation.
Laroda Fultz is the senior team mascot and he is in his second year with the squad. He is known for getting the student section pumped up during football games.
Bailey, King, Jordan, Watts, and Fultz are all under the leadership of WC Cheerleading Team Head Coach Cameron Coon who helped the team finish ninth at Nationals back in February.
