WC crushes Columbus in a doubleheader

VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN)Warren Central High School’s softball team went on the road last night and came back with two district wins over Columbus. The Lady Vikes won with a combined score of 30-4.

Game 1: WC 11-0

Kennadi McKay came in to pitch in the shutout victory as she threw nine strikes. Maddy Pant pitched one inning and struck out three.

WC went up 2-0 in the first inning when McKay and Addi Mullen both hit RBIs. By the end of the third, the Lady Vikes had a 6-0 lead after Whitley Parks and Mary Clell Allred hit RBIs as well as Emily Muirhead who smashed a 2-run double.WC added three more runs in the fourth when Mullen hit an RBI and Kennadi Williams knocked out a 2-run double. 

The Lady Vikes put the game away in the fifth after MK Ferguson and Katie Warnock both scored runs from passed balls.

McKay(1 RBI) and Muirhead both brought in two hits while Parks(1 RBI), Mullen(2 RBIs), and Williams(2 RBIs) both had one hit. Allred hit one RBI.

Game 2: WC 19-4

In game two, WC gave the Lady Falcons a glimpse of hope as Columbus scored the first four runs. That quickly came to an end when WC responded with five runs.

The Lady Vikes quickly put the game away in the second when they added 14 more runs. Maddy Pant had a perfect performance where she threw six strikeouts and allowed zero runs and zero hits. Muirhead struck out two batters.

Parks(4 RBIs), McKay, and Anzley Keen(1 RBI) all finished with two hits while Allred, Williams(2 RBIs), Pant(3 RBIs), and Ferguson all had one hit.
