WC softball team earned two wins at the Brookhaven Tournament

Warren Central High School softball team earned two wins in the Brookhaven Tournament on Saturday.

WC vs. Loyd Star:

Scoring didn’t begin until the second inning as Loyd Star went up 3-0 after a hit and two errors by the Lady Vikes. WC got on the board in the same inning after a hit from Kamryn Morson to put the score at 3-1.

WC earned a chance to tie the game at 3-3 in the third after Makayla Jackson and Sarah Cameron Fancher both hit singles which setup a two-run hit by Jenn Smith.

By the fifth inning, Loyd Star regained the led as they went up 4-3. WC’s Adalyn Anderson singled along with Fancher as Smith stepped up once again and smashed a double that brought in two more runs that led to the Lady Vikes’ 5-4 win.

Smith went 2 for 3 with four RBIs. Anderson, Morson, KeKe McKay, Fancher and Jackson all had one hit. Maddy Pant struck out three batters in the win and McKay struck out one. Fancher and Jackson both had two runs and McKay finished with one.

WC vs. West Marion

Pant hit a single in the first inning to give WC their first run of the night. Smith and Pant both hit singles in the third inning that setup a hit from McKay where Whitley Parks drove in the run. Smith would also score on a passed ball while Morson and MK Ferguson both hit RBIs to give WC the 5-0 lead.

Pant went 3 for 3(1 RBI) at the plate while McKay went 2 for 2(1 RBI). Morson(1 RBI) and Smith each had one hit while Pant struck out five batters.

WC(9-3) will travel to face Ridgeland on Thursday.
