Billie named Alcorn State University Head Softball Coach

LORMAN, Miss. — Former Benedict College softball head coach Brianna Billie has been named the new head coach of Alcorn State University Lady Braves softball program announced Interim Athletic Director Robert Raines on Thursday.

 “We are thrilled to announce that Coach Brianna Billie has been appointed as the new head softball coach at Alcorn State,” said Raines. “Coach Billie has an impressive background in coaching, recruiting, and mentoring student-athletes, and brings a deep passion for the game. Coach Billie is a great fit, and we are confident that her leadership will help our softball program reach new heights.”

  Billie joins Alcorn State after two seasons (2023, 2024) as head coach at Benedict College in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. During her coaching tenure, she served as an Assistant Director of Athletics and Senior Woman Administrator. She also spent time as an assistant coach at Northwest Missouri State University from 2019-2021.

 As a player, she complied a batting average of .404 during the 2017 season and improving to .429 in 2018 as a lefty slapper and was regarded as one of the top outfielders in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC). In 2018, she also received First Team All-SIAC and MVP of the Benedict College softball team. She led the NCAA Division 2 in stolen bases in 2018, averaging 1.49 stolen bases per game (52 in 35 games). She also served one season as a student assistant at Benedict following her standout career as a player.

  Billie was born in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., but raised in Monroe, Ga. She graduated from Monroe Area High School in 2014. She is the daughter of Erricka Young- McKenzie and Dameon Billie and is the eldest of 10 children.

 She graduated from Benedict College in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science degree and earned a Master of Applied Health and Sport Science from Northwest Missouri State University.

She is a member of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
