Byram Police Arrest Alleged Drug Trafficker During Traffic Stop, Seize $36,000 Of Marijuana

On Wednesday, December 20th, at 9:45 p.m., Byram Police Department officers attempted a traffic stop on a 2020 white Toyota Camry with a switched license plate traveling northbound on Interstate 55 in the Byram city limits at Siwell Road overpass.
The vehicle didn’t stop and continued northbound on I-55 into the City of Jackson. The suspect vehicle attempted to exit onto McDowell Road where it hit an MDOT sign.
The suspect got out of the vehicle and ran towards a wooded area where he was captured by officers.
He was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital before being transported to the Hinds County Detention Center to be held until his initial appearance.
A search warrant was obtained on the suspect vehicle where an estimated 20 pounds of Marijuana was located hidden in the trunk of the vehicle. The estimated street value for the Marijuana is $36,000.00.
37-year-old Breyen Gamble, from Jackson, was arrested. He was charged with Trafficking Controlled Substances, Felony Fleeing, False Statement of Identity, DUI, & Switched Tag. The police department said other charges are pending.
