VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) —St. Aloysius kept their baseball season alive last night after pulling off two huge wins against Silliman Institute in games two and three of the first-round playoff series. The Flashes won 2-1 and 12-11 to advance to the second round of the playoffs.

Game 1:

Game one kept their baseball season crowd humble as no one earned a run until the second extra-inning during the ninth.

Silliman was the first to score after scoring from a passed ball. St. Aloysius responded well after having all the bases loaded. Walt Andrews earned a walk to put the score at 1-1 just before Laken Bradley scored from a passed ball, leading to the 2-1 win.

Andrews, Carson Smith, and Evan Mallard finished the game with one hit. Mallard struck out five batters and Laken struck out two.

Game 2:

The Flashes dug themselves out of a hole after trailing by as much as 9-1 in the final game but eventually pulled off the win.

Pierson Smith earned a walk in the first inning to put the Flashes ahead. Silliman responded with three runs in the second in the second after a double and a triple.

By the bottom of the third, St. Al was down 9-1 until they scored three runs after Pierson Smith hit a 2-run single and Mallard smashed a double. Carson Smith and Clark Hobson both hit RBIs in the fourth but the Flashes still trailed 11-7.

It would take some good second-half batting for St. Al to finish on top which included a 2-run double by Pierson Smith, an inside-the-park homerun by Keller Bradley and Hobson being hit by a pitch to tie the game at 11-11. Carson Smith then earned the win for the Flashes as he stole home plate to get the 12th and final run of the night.

Carson Smith(1 RBI) and Pierson Smith(5 RBIs) both had two hits in the win. William Roberson, Laken, Keller(1 RBI), Mallard(1 RBI), and Hobson(3 RBIs) each had one hit.

Keller Bradley struck out five batters, Andrews struck out three and Hosbson struck out one.
