Harper earns his first win as Head Coach; Flashes took down Indianola Academy 14-4
Jay Harper celebrated his first victory as Head Baseball Coach of St. Aloysius with an impressive 14-4 win over Indianola Academy.
“They came out swinging the bats real well and it’s amazing what you can do when you come in ready to play and that’s what happened here tonight,” Harper said. “It’s not a me thing, it’s a we thing where we got this win together.”
Despite Indianola Academy scoring the first run of the night, the Flashes quickly turned the game around by scoring four runs of their own. Damien Reeves and Robert Lee’s singles contributed to the lead, giving St. Al a 4-1 advantage. From there, they never relinquished control, adding five more runs in the second inning. Singles from Walt Andrews, Barrett Shows, Reeves, and Laken Bradley pushed the
score to 9-2.
In the fifth inning, Clark Hobson’s double combined with Pierson Smith’s RBI extended the Flashes lead to 12-3. Carson Smith sealed the deal when he hit a two-run triple, ending the game early.
Keller Bradley had an outstanding performance at the plate, going 3 for 3. Shows, Reeves (2 RBIs), and Laken Bradley (1 RBI) each contributed two hits. Smith (2 RBls), Hobson (1 RBI), and Lee (2 RBls) finished with one hit
each. Pierson Smith also had an impressive two RBIs.
Max Hargrave and Shows each struck out one
batter.
