VICKSBURG, Miss. – Haven House in Vicksburg has named Anna Burnett the new interim Executive Director.

Haven House is a shelter for women who are victims of domestic violence and serves Warren County and surrounding communities, and has been in operation since 1985. In addition to the shelter, they help with finding residency and do outreach programs in the area.

In her role as Executive Director, Burnett will oversee all operations of the shelter and it’s affiliated programs. These include working with the Office of Interpersonal Violence and working in conjunction with the Mississippi Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Burnett will be responsible for staying up with policies, any new legislation, rules and regulations.

Burnett first joined the team at Haven House in February of 2015 as an Outreach Counselor. In 2017 she became the shelter manager and left in 2022 to run Staffing Solutions here in Vicksburg. Although she left the staff of Haven House, she stayed involved in support roles for the shelter.

“I feel like it is my calling to be there,” said Burnett.

In addition to Haven House, Burnett is also the owner and managing partner of Staffing Solutions and The Sandlot of Vicksburg, and the mother of two children, Drake and Nicholas.

“God brought me here; he is going to take me through it,” commented Burnett on the challenges of managing a busy professional life and being a mother. “The team at Staffing and The Sandlot are extremely supportive.”

Staffing Solutions also partners with Haven House to help shelter residents with employment when appropriate.

Haven House Board President Oneka Washington commented, “On behalf of the Board of Directors we would like to thank Anna Burnett for gladly accepting to serve as interim Executive Director of Haven House. We feel confident she has the knowledge and business acumen to move Haven House forward while the Board searches for the next executive director.”

If you are in a domestic violence situation, you can contact the Haven House crisis line at 601-638-0555. If you are in a dangerous situation, call 911.
