Jelly Roll gifts Louisiana newlyweds $10k at Cajundome show
Lafayette, LA – A Louisiana couple, Aiden Sanders and Anna Claire Wilson, eloped on what is considered to be the unluckiest day of the year, Friday the 13th. To celebrate, the newlyweds went to Jelly Roll’s show at the Cajundome, part of the Beautifully Broken Tour.
During the performance of “Son of a Sinner”, a sign in the front row caught the the singer’s eye: “Just Married”. When Jelly Roll realized that the couple had gotten married that day and congratulating them, he asked them what their honeymoon plans were. Since the couple eloped, they admitted they didn’t have any plans.
“I tell you what. I’m gonna give you $10,000 to go if it’s alright with you,” said Jelly Roll, “And the deal is, all I want is videos, baby.”
Jelly Roll is known for his generosity and good will. Earlier this year, he helped launch a music studio inside the Davidson County Juvenile Detention Center where he was once incarcerated.
In an interview with People magazine, the singer said: “It’s important, man. I think it’s important that we give back, especially [to] our kids,” he said. “Man, our youth are so impressionable and the old quote goes, ‘None of them asked to be here.’ They were born into just whatever situation it was, and sometimes they can’t see past that situation or that neighborhood or that environment. I just hope to bring hope to that and kind of be a beacon and a light for those kids.”
